Bubblegum, creator
This film creates afterimages in the fine arts tradition of Josef Albers.
Open the film. Note the white frame. A woman blowing bubblegum appears with a pop. When the bubble pops, the woman disappears and the original white frame reappears. Now that the woman has been present, you may see an afterimage. The afterimage forms in response to a change in external stimuli but exists only in the mind’s eye. Someone else may see a similar color but only you see this manifestation. Story also forms as a mental construct by the viewer, a vibrant afterimage. As viewers, we each experience the same plot but a slightly different story.
Starring Lindsay Reuter and Nora Petroliunas, cinematography by Richard Daniel Cohen, edited by Sara Cintron Schultz.
